Chairman Statement – First Selectman Debates

October 26, 2023

The second and final scheduled debate between the First Selectman Candidates will be held on Sunday, October 28th at Congregation Or Shalom at 7pm. There has been an unprecedented attempt by the Republicans to convince the Orange voters that there will be a third debate. This is not true. I refer to Mark’s Letter posted on this site and Mark’s website. We were only interested in a debate schedule and forum that served the best interests of Orange voters and not the opposing candidate. This attempt at a third debate by the Republican Town Committee did not meet these criteria.

As the challenger, Mark has the much harder campaign challenge. He must get to know you in a short period of time. He can accomplish this by knocking on over 1,500 doors, which he has; meeting with small groups of voters, which he has; and raising awareness of his policies and ideas through electronic and physical mailer correspondence, which he has. Mark works full time for an esteemed private company and meeting his campaign schedule is challenging. He does not enjoy the time liberties of an incumbent. Also, as the two debates are covered by OGAT and are available on YouTube, Orange voters have ample access to the two debates.

I encourage all voters to focus on the new energy and enhanced policies Mark will bring to all residents of Orange. Vote for Mark and ROW A on November 7th .

Best regards,

Joe Marulli

Chair, Orange Democratic Town Committee
