Nominating Committee Update – Final Call for Candidates
As Chairperson of the ODTC Nominating Committee, I am pleased to provide the following update regarding selecting candidates for the November 2023 local election.
The Nominating Committee is comprised of seven members of the DTC. All selected had experience participating in campaigns or holding political office in Orange. The committee began interviewing prospective board candidates in January and will conclude by the end of April. The process entailed confirming which incumbents were seeking an additional term and attracting new Democratic candidates who had never held office.
As we approach the end of April, which concludes our search for candidates, we are making a final call to Orange Democrats interested in seeking office. I am pleased with the mix of incumbents and new candidates. I feel we will present a strong and full choice to the voters of Orange in November. The interview process is still open to individuals who have not previously held office and want to make a difference in the Town of Orange. Interviews are available for the following positions, which are volunteer: Board of Finance, Planning & Zoning, Amity Board of Education, and Constables. In addition, we are seeking candidates for the two paid positions of Town Clerk and Tax Collector. These positions pay an annual salary of $72,795 plus benefits.
The Nominating Committee plans to finalize the slate of candidates after April 30, 2023. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in running or have any questions at joemarulli@gmail.com or my cell at 203-530-4940. You can also contact any member of the Nominating Committee or a member of the Orange Democratic Town Committee (ODTC).
