Longtime Orange resident Mark Moyher recently announced that he will seek the Democratic Town Committee’s nomination for First Selectman of Orange at the upcoming caucus on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Who is Mark? You’ve certainly seen him around town, and there’s a good chance you already know him. Mark and his wife Ilene have lived in Orange for the last 25 years, after deciding to move here for Orange’s great location and neighborhoods. Maybe you know him from his volunteer work with the Orange Recycling Committee since 2017 where he currently serves not one but two leadership roles. Perhaps you’ve seen him at the Orange Bicentennial celebration where he volunteered his time at the souvenir booth. Or maybe you saw him at the Orange Rotary Club’s 2023 Day of Service at the senior center flipping pancakes, or at the Orange Chamber of Commerce’s Family Fun Day event in May 2023, where he recruited a team to represent the Recycling Committee to promote a cleaner Orange. Mark has always been one to step up for the community when asked and his track record of volunteerism reflects that.

Mark is also an experienced professional who has worked in the financial industry for 40 years and now serves as Vice President and Senior Trader at an investment firm. He’s known in the industry as a go-getter who has advanced his career through hard work, determination, and continuous learning which has led to his earning several financial industry licenses. He’s also an experienced leader, having managed many teams over his 40 year career ranging in size from four to sixty people. As a leader and finance professional Mark knows the importance of making the most of our town’s tax dollars in a way that both meets residents’ needs while balancing with fiscal responsibility.

Given his vast experience both professionally and as a resident of Orange, Mark knows without a doubt that he is the right person to help move Orange forward as our next First Selectman. Mark is a tireless campaigner and plans to spend until Election Day speaking to as many of the residents of Orange as possible, listening to your concerns and understanding your unique viewpoints. He plans to build on those to bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to the Office of First Selectman of Orange, one that is actively responsive to resident’s needs and desires around infrastructure, education, town services and more while also bringing a culture of transparency and accountability to the office that has been lacking over the last 18 years.

Mark will be “hitting the streets” this week and you should expect to see him in your neighborhood soon! He’s got lofty goals to meet, and we hope that you will help support Mark by letting him know what’s on your mind, by volunteering to help with Mark’s campaign, and/or by donating to his campaign.
