Orange, Woodbridge and Bethany Democrats - Standing for Our Values
Jan 30, 2026 - The Woodbridge, Bethany and Orange Democratic Town Committees Call For Enhanced Federal Accountability and Oversight of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Operations. We oppose the pattern of misconduct by ICE that continues to violate fundamental constitutional rights and instills fear within our communities. ICE’s use of excessive force represents a profound, unchecked expansion of federal power that undermines the rule of law. We urge EVERY member of Congress to cease all funding for this rogue agency until real accountability, oversight, and structural reforms are implemented. We call on Congress to immediately establish an independent oversight committee to investigate ICE’s use of force and insist that Congress hold those responsible for these lawless acts. We insist that Congress implement strict oversight of ICE procedures, including a prohibition of masks, a mandate for body worn cameras, and a requirement that all agents publicly identify themselves during enforcement actions. We demand an end to racially motivated profiling, and for the immediate ban on enforcement actions at sensitive locations, including places of worship, schools, and medical facilities. We are committed to protecting our neighbors from unlawful targeting. We demand oversight and immediate action to halt this state-sponsored terror. Human decency is not a partisan issue.
