O'Sullivan Award - Paul Davis

The ODTC established this annual award to commemorate the O’Sullivan family’s legacy of public service. It's given in recognition of an Orange resident who demonstrates outstanding community service through their involvement in local, state, and/or national government.

Paul Davis is a long-time Orange resident who has volunteered with many local charities and community organizations and continues to remain active.

He has served on the Orange Conservation Commission, the Clean Energy Task Force and was a member of the Platt Technical High School Citizens Advisory Council. He was as a member of the Orange Board of Selectmen and for years has held the demanding position of Chair of the Amity Board of Education.

 

Careerwise, Paul taught middle and high school science in West Haven until retiring in 2002. He received training through the Governor’s Drug Partnership and mentored more than 15 student and beginning teachers. In 2004, Paul was elected as State Representative for the 117th House District and served ten years in the General Assembly rising to the rank of Deputy Majority Leader. 

 

Coaching all levels of competitive swimming for almost 40 years, Paul's dedication to the sport includes 27 years as varsity swim coach at Amity. He founded the swim team program in Orange upon the completion of the town pool in 1975 and was head coach until 1988.
