By Byron Crosdale, Jr., Board of Finance Candidate
I am seeking election to the Board of Finance for Orange. I bring with me over two decades of experience in public service, a commitment to education and a strong belief in responsible financial stewardship.
My family moved to Orange because we needed more space and my disabled mother who was then living in Florida was in need of care. We had always heard about the incredible school system in Orange, too. Since living here, I have absolutely come to love the fact that we are in this amazing pocket of solitude within such close proximity to all of the conveniences of the Post Road and Route 34.
For the past 22 years, I have served as a teacher in Bridgeport, where I’ve learned firsthand how budgeting decisions impact students, families and communities. I’ve also spent 15 years as a coordinator for the Lighthouse afterschool and summer program, managing resources and programming that support youth development. Additionally, my experience as an assistant manager at Stop & Shop for two years gave me valuable insight into operational efficiency and fiscal accountability in the private sector.
As a father of two children in the Amity school system, I am personally invested in the future of our town. I understand the importance of maintaining high-quality public services while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and transparently. As a teacher, parent and caretaker, I am deeply committed to the well-being of our community.
If elected, I will bring a balanced, thoughtful approach to financial decision-making – one that reflects both professional experience and a parent’s perspective. I am committed to listening to residents, asking the right questions and working collaboratively to keep Orange financially strong and forward-looking.
With your support, I hope to bring a fresh, thoughtful perspective to the Board of Finance and help Orange continue to thrive.
