A Strong Voice for Education

By Erin Wilson, Orange Board of Education Candidate

I’m running for the Orange Board of Education. The reason I’m running is simple: I’m a mom. My son attends Turkey Hill, and my daughter started kindergarten. The Orange teachers, paras and staff have become like family to us, and I want to be a voice for them.

I hold masters and doctoral degrees, and I serve as the assistant dean at a university. I’ve spent 15 years as a nurse and nine years as a teacher. I believe my experience in education, health care and leadership will serve Orange families well.

I’m grateful every day to raise my family in this incredible community, surrounded by kind, generous neighbors. One issue I care deeply about is ensuring our schools have the resources they need to not just succeed, but to thrive. As a COVID nurse and manager, I know how important it is to stay one step ahead of the curve.

Our schools need thoughtful, proactive solutions. For example, did you know two elementary schools do not have air conditioning? As a Fairfield University graduate, the Jesuit value of “magis” reminds me we are all connected, and stronger together – something I will carry with me as I represent you all.
